San Benedetto is a town of extremely ancient origins that rises at the point where the ditches of the Acquacheta, Troncalosso, and Rio Destro meet. In Il Poggio there is a church built in 1723 in place of the ancient Benedictine abbey, next to which the medieval village developed. From the original monastery, only the crypt, a defensive tower, an arched portal, and part of the outer walls remain.
