The GAL (Local Action Groups) manage the financial contributions given by the EU in the territories under their jurisdiction. The GEIE (European Economic Interest Grouping) is instead a legal instrument that encourages economic entities of different nationalities in the realization of forms of international cooperation.
The EEIG and the Gal with territorial jurisdiction in the national park - "Appennino Aretino", "Start" (Mugello-Valdisieve), and "The Other Romagna" - came together on Wednesday. The meeting was aimed at evaluating - within a wider program - specific coordination actions. The goal that was intended was to share strategies to increase the share of EU funds intercepted by the territories that develop in the protected Tuscan-Romagna and subjected to the operational expertise of the different Gal.
The issues on which it was decided to start working together are, in the name of the environment-tourism-culture marriage, those of the "walk" (in particular those dedicated to Dante and Dino Campana) and the enhancement of local gastronomic specialties.
"Every year Italy loses a large proportion of Community funds allocated to her. And 'our duty to put in place, with commitment multiplied by the time of crisis we are living, all the measures because an increasing share of these resources can be made available for the development and enhancement of our territories. " Luca Santini, president of the Casentino Forests National Park, Mount Falterona and Campigna.
